LAKKI MARWAT: The number of dengue cases reached 27 in Lakki Marwat as two more positive cases were reported in the district on Monday.
Jameel Khan, an official, said that the new cases were reported at a health centre in Ahmadkhel area.
He said that after registration of the two new cases, the tally of confirmed dengue cases reached eight in the remote rural locality of the district.
`The two new and six old patients reported in the ongoing and previous month have a travel history,` he claimed. He added that the new dengue patients identified as Naseerullah and Baseerullah were isolated at their homes.
The official said that both of them were labourers and they arrived in the village from Rawalpindi. `Health workers screened their family members and gave them mosquito nets,` he said. He added that following the directives of district health officer, emergency measures were being taken to control spread of the ailment.
He said that health workers carried out fumigation in Ahmadkhel area and anti-dengue spray inside the houses of patients. He said that along with conducting fumigation, hotspots of the infection were being monitored by officials of health department and district administration on a daily basis.
