Canadian visa woes
2014-11-15
THIS is in continuation of Muhammad Iqbal`s letter `Canadian visa` (Oct 30).
My wife and I applied for a visitor visa through Gerry`s and our applications were forwarded to the Canadian High Commission on June 10.
After a passage of the designated time period, I e-mailed the high commission to request an update on my visa status but receivednoresponse.
Despite several reminders and follow-ups with Gerry`s, I e-mailed the high commission on Sept 23, 2014, to withdraw our visit visa applications as I felt both deeply upset and offended.
Meanwhile, my wife received her passport back with a visa on Sept 25.
However, there was no update on my visa.
I re-submitted my withdrawal request multiple times on Sept 24, Sept 26, Oct 1, Oct 13, Oct 20, Oct 23 and Oct 30, but it seems the high commission has no interest in returning my passport.
I even wrote a letter to the Canadian High Commissioner on Oct 20, 2014, so that he could personallylookintotheissue and help resolve it. However, there has been no response from his office as well.
I am a regular international traveller, but I have never faced such difficulty in obtaining a visa for a country that openly states that tourism is of great importance to it.
