I WAS really amazed to read a letter, `Ingenious Pakistanis` (Oct 24). The ingenuity shown by Mian Ishaque of Shahbazpur village, Rahimyar Khan has impressed the writer most. Mian Ishaque has done something unique by spending Rs1.20m on a project that comprises a full biogas plant, a gas purification plant, a gas compression unit, 30KVA generator and 25HP deep-well turbine pump.
His unit converts one ton of buffalo dung a day into useful biogas that he purifies which increases its pressure.
His compressed biogas runs a car for 90km against CNG which goes up to 120km.
Thefertiliser thatis produced as abyproduct is used in his fields and his land does not need DAP, phosphorus or potash.
All this has been done by a person who lives in a village in south Punjab. Hats off to theingenuity ofthis talented person! Who knows how many other people like Mian Ishaque may be there who may bedoing wonders for Pakistan but are remaining unidentified.
Sometimes you wonder whether there was any organisation in Pakistan that taps talented people.
Every year, so many presentations are given by the final year students of various engineering universities and IT institutes of Pakistan. Instead of further pursuing these projects, the same are relegated to the dustbins of history.
Why can`t these projects be given wide publicity through a dedicated website so as to be seen by local and international companies and businessmen and pursued further? Air-Cdre (r) Azfar A.Khan Karachi
