Two killed in road accidents

LA HORE: Two men were killed in as many accidents in the city on Monday.

In the first incident, a man was killed when a speeding mini truck hit and ran him over in Naulakha.

Police said Tufail, 40, of Misri Shah was crossing the road near Do Moriya Bridge when a speeding mini truck carrying goods hit and ran him over. The man suf fered critical injuries and fell unconscious.

The driver abandoned his truck and fled from the scene.

Some passersby alerted Rescue 1122 and police who reached the spot and shif ted the injured to Mayo Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Police impounded the vehicle andregistered a case against the driver on the complaint of the victim`s brother Munir.

In another incident a 20-year-old man died in an accident in Nishtar Colony.

Police said Nasir Abbas of Ravi Road was on his way on his motorcycle when another motorcyclist coming from the opposite direction collided with him. Both motorcyclists lost their balance and suffered minor injuries. As they were regaining their balance, a speeding tractor trolley ran Abbas over. He received fatal injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Police shifted his body to morgue for autopsy, collected forensic evidence from the accident site and recorded statements of thewitnesses.

Police also registered a case against the unidentified driver and also started a search operation to arrest him.

FOUND DEAD: A 50-year-old unidentified man was found dead in Badami Bagh on Monday.

Police said passersby spotted an unidentified man lying unconscious on the road and alerted them. They reached the spot and shifted the body to morgue for autopsy, collected forensic evidence from the scene and recorded statements of witnesses.

Police said the deceased was an addict and might have died due to drugs overdose. However, autopsy and further investigations would help ascertain the cause of death.

Police were investigating the matter further.
