Dog bite cases on the rise in Alpuri

SHANGLA: The tehsil municipal administration, Alpuri, here has launched a campaign to eliminate stray dogs after a sudden rise in dog bite incidents.

Tehsil municipal officer Mohammad Afzal Khan told mediapersons in Alpuri on Tuesday that cases of several people bitten by stray dogs had been reported in various parts of Shangla during the past couple of days. He said that following public complaints they had launched a campaign to eliminate stray dogs in the district.

The TMO said that about eight people were bitten by stray dogs in Lelonai, four in Karora and 12 in Damorai union council of Kana tehsil who were being provided with treatment. He said that during the campaign 17 straydogs were killed in Damorai, 27 in Lelonai and 24 in Karora area of the district.

Meanwhile, scores of patients were treated for various diseased at Bobai village during a free medical camp, which was organised by Gujjar Youth Forum and Bisham THQ hospital`s Dr Hafiz Sanaullah and other health staf f.

The organisers told mediapersons that the medical camp was aimed at providing the people of the hilly area with treatment in their own locality. They said that the camp was supported by councillor Sarfaraz Khan, and the patients, including women and children, were also given free medicines.

Dr Sanaullah said that most of the patients had chest infection. Correspondent
