LAHORE: The Pakistan People`s Party suggests the masses may be further taxed to generate funds for enabling PIA to sail through its financial crunch and avoid privatisation of the state enterprise.
Punjab PPP Vice-President Rana Farooq Saeed told a press conference here on Thursday that Rs100 per electricity meter should be imposed to collect Rs192 billion per annum for steering PIA out of financial problems.
Asserting that the masses would be happily ready to pay this levy for saving the national airliner, he urged the government to consider the plan.
He said that the PPP was against privatisation of state enterprises and instead desired to make them profitable through strategic decisions.-Staff Reporter
