Making Karachi green

2017-12-15
APROPOS the letter `Making Karachi green` (Dec 5).

The efforts of the writer and his team in changing a plot in the National Institute of Management (NIM) to a little green island by planting and maintaining 2,000 trees are commendable. This plot was earlier filled with garbage, debris and waste which was a source of nuisance for the students living in the hostels nearby.

This effort shows that if each one of us does his bit, it would be easy to provide an environment-friendly atmosphere to any city of the country.

I felicitate the writer for not only saving valuable government land from the lustful eyes of encroachers, but the serenity so created will be appreciated by the NIMemployees, visitors and the neighbourhood.

Onehopesthatthedaysofthe encroachers are numbered as the honourable Supreme Court has issued orders to remove 35,000 illegal constructions on amenity plots in Karachi.
