KARACHI: A clinical simulation centre built for Rs230 million was inaugurated at the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS). The facility of Asif Rehman Simulation Centre was supported by the Dow Medical College batch of 1990 which contributed Rs30m.
The centre is well equipped to deal with different disciplines like obstetrics, gynaecology, medicine, paediatric and cardiology.
It has a mock anatomy dissection lab with the aim to facilitate learning through immersion, reflection, feedback, and practice, minus the risks inherent in a similarreal-life experience.
Speaking at the ceremony on Friday, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah emphasised the need for a central simulation centre at DUHS so professionals of other medical universities in the public sector could benefit.
`I want a central simulation facility at Dow University and its satellite centres at all government medical universities and colleges so that students in other universities and colleges can learn through virtual reality,` he said, adding that his government was ready to invest for the purpose.
