PM`s aide vows to get three main train stops in Taxila restored

TAXILA: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Law and Justice Barrister Ageel Malik on Wednesday vowed to use his office for restoration of three main passenger trains Rehman Baba Express, Jaffar Express and Khyber Mailstops at Taxila junction.
Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, Mr Malik said that he had pledged during his election campaign that if he got elected, he would play his role in the restoration of the trains` stop at Taxila railway junction.
He said that he would soon make a request to Federal Parliamentary Secretary Ministry of RailwaysMohammad Usman Awaisi to direct the authorities concernedto allow the passenger trains to stop at the station for at least two minutes.
He said in the absence of these trains` stops at Taxila the local population had to travel to Rawalpindi to board these trains as presently only Awam Express and HazraExpress had two minutes halt here.
Malik acknowledged that this is a public issue and assured that he understood the problems faced by the people. He emphasised that the restoration of these trains` stops would not only benefit the people of Taxila and surrounding areas but also generate profit.
Pakistan Railways has started running new trains and activated new routes across the country. The colonial era-Taxila Railway Station is surrounded by various defenceindustries especially Heavy industries Taxia, Pakistan Ordnance Factories, Heavy M e c h a n i e a 1 Complex where people from the four provinces serve besides students of University of Engineering and Technology Taxila, Correspondent
