Bisham TMA removes illegal bus stands

SHANGLA: Bisham tehsil administration on Wednesday removed illegal bus stands along Karakoram Highway in the city to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

The assistant commissioner, Adnan Khan, the tehsil municipal officer, Salman Ghani, the sub-divisional officer of security, Itbar Khan, TMA inspector Sadiq Khan and others participated in the crackdown on illegal bus stands.

Adnan Khan later told journalists that eight private bus stands were removed from Karakoram Highway in Bisham bazaar and the places were sealed.

He said that a meeting regarding traffic jam issue, Bisham tehsil administration decided to continue public transport operations from three bus stands for different destinations.

TMO Salman Ghani said that only those general bus stands would be allowed to operate that got lease from TMA.

He said that three bus stands were tenderised last year that included bus stand in Bisham Serai for vehicle going to Swat, Bisham town stand for three districts of Kohistan and the stand near police station to facilitate people travelling to Hazara division, Islamabad and other parts of the country.

He said that taxicabs and car for rents would also operate from the general bus stand. He said that neither pickup vehicles nor taxicabs would be allowed to operate from any other part of the bazaar along Karakoram Highway as it was causing problems to commuters and pedestrians.

The TMO said they removed eight private bus stands including taxicab service setups along KKH on Wednesday.

He said that the crackdown would continue for the whole month. He said that no one would be allowed to establish illegal bus stands in the bazaar.
