DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Rescue 1122 workers extinguished a fire in a grid station`s compound on Grid Road here on Wednesday.

No damage to life or material was reported, according to a spokesman for Rescue 1122.

He said the fire erupted in dry grass but itscause was not known.

The spokesman said immediately after learning about the fire incident, district emergency officer Engineer Fasihullah dispatched workers to thegrid station who controlledthe fire within 20 minutes of arrival.

Meanwhile, the District Headquarters Hospital Dera Ismail Khan is settingupa cardiac catheterisation laboratory (Cath lab) on its premises, said its director Dr Farrukh Jameel.

He told Dawn that the initiative would enhance cardiac care for hospital visitors from southern districts ofthe province.

The director said the tender process for the project had begun.

He said theCath lab would offer services like angiography, angioplasty and cardiac bypass.

Dr Farrukh said the southern districts lacked such facilities, so the local cardiac patients were referred to Peshawar, Islamabad and Multan.

He said the lab would be operational in the next three months as the chief minister wanted early completion of the project.
