ISLAMABAD: A man was killed in a road accident on Murree Road on Thursday, the police said.

The victim, identified as Abdul Rahim, was hit by a car when he was walking along the road. He was moved to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car was arrested.

In a separate incident, two shops were set on fire in Shamshad Market by unidentified persons.The shops were owned by one Mohammad Younus and one was a garments shop and another sold mobile phones.

The owner of the shops told the police he shut the shops down at night and left for home and that he came to know late at night about the fire.

He said he reached the shops with his sons to find they had been set on fire.

He then called rescue services who extinguished the fire. Staff Reporter
