Water, sanitation facilities launched at refugee camps

PESHAWAR: Groundwater recharge facilities, solar-based tubewells, hand-washing stations, and water storage tanks were launched at the Chichana and Gamkol refugee villages in Kohat district on Wednesday.
A statement issued here said the inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives of Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Unicef`s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (Wash) officials and members of the refugee community.
Speaking on the occasion, officials of the commissionerate appreciated the interventions and stressed the importance of providing potable water to the community.
The groundwater recharge facility established by the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources will help replenish the groundwater level, ensuring a continuous supply of water to the community.
The other Wash facilities will also play a crucial role in improving the sanitation and hygiene conditions of the community, which will lead to better health outcomes.
