ISLAMABAD: Participants of a moot highlighted the plight of Palestinians during a charged speech at an international conference on Palestine and condemned several Muslim nations and the US for supporting Israeli aggressions.
The conference titled, `A Voice of Voiceless Echo of Palestine`, was organised by Jamaat-i-1slami (JI) Pakistan where the speakers expressed support for the Palestinian people and called for global accountability against Israeli and American actions in the region.
JI chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that the issue of Palestine held special significance for Pakistan and was notmerely a regional conflict but a matter of human rights and justice.
Hafiz Naeem described the displacement of Palestinians from their homes as a grave injustice in human history and termed the ongoing situation in Gaza as one of the greatest tragedies.
He recalled that Israel was unilaterally declared a state on May 14, 1948, and since then, Palestinians have faced relentless oppression.
He defended the actions of Hamas on October 7, stating that their operation was within their legal rights and ledtothereleaseofPalestinian prisoners.
`The resistance by Hamas is not an act of aggression but a legitimate struggle for freedom and we all praise Hamas for challenging one of the mostpowerful armies in the world who is backed by the world powers.
He added, `It is clear and open now and the United States is not in a position to lecture others on democracy given its history marred by war and violence.
He noted that over 100,000 Palestinians have been martyred, and the resistance movement has awakened the conscience of humanity mainly in Europe and the Arab world.
He labelled the US as a terrorist state, accusing it of killing millions of people.
`Palestine belongs to the Palestinians and the global community must recognise this reality,` the JI chief added.
Hafiz Naeem called US President Donald Trump, atroublemaker and criticised those who support him.
`The Muslim world, including the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Arab countries, have to unite and hold America and Israel accountable for their war crimes in Palestine,` he said.
Asif Lugman Qazi said that several resolutions have been passed by the United Nations in favour of Palestine but there was no mechanism to implement them.
`We see the double standards of the United Nations when it comes to issues faced by the Muslim countries,` he said.
He also slammed the OIC, calling it an ineffective forum.
He said that the role of the prime ministers and presidents of Islamic countries wasshameful.
Former Senator Raja Zafarul Haq said that the whole world watched the horrors of Israeli actions in Gaza, yet no one stood with the oppressed.
He added that if the Muslim countries did not come together to stop the atrocities in Palestine, they would be the next target.
The participants of the conference slammed the West for condoning crimes against humanity allegedly committed by Israel and said history will remember their role.
They also urged Muslim countries to unite against challenges faced by Muslims around the world and fight for their rights.
The moot concluded with pledges of strong support for Palestinians at all forums.
