THER E has been an alarming increase in the use of high intensity discharge headlights in vehicles for some years, especially in Lahore. Many car owners spend big sums to customise their cars headlights thinking it cool and different.
These headlights bathe everythingin front of the vehicle with a bright bluish white light of monstrous intensity. As a result, not only the drivers of oncoming traffic but also other cars get blinded.
This poses a serious traffic hazard at night time and many accidents have been reported.
Of late while the traffic police in Lahore have been quite diligent handing out fines to drivers for not wearing seatbelts or bil(ers without helmets, an, equal degree of seriousness and intent is required on their part to address the aforementioned issue.
The traffic police should start an awareness campaign educating the people about the inconvenience caused by HID headlights. There should be a complete ban on the use of HID headlights in the city.
