LAKKI MARWAT: The local police on Wednesday foiled a bid to smuggle narcotics to Punjab from tribal area and arrested two alleged smugglers here.
After receiving credible information about the possible attempt of narcotics smuggling, DPO Syed Khalid Hamdani alerted Dadiwala police and directed them to foil the bid at all costs, said an official, adding that a police party set up a temporary check point near Cheekari village and started searching vehicles.
The cops stopped two suspected cars and during search of the vehicles found 23kg hashish concealed in hidden cavities, maintained the official.
He said the cars were impounded and two alleged narcotics smugglers identified as Mohammad Alam of Khyber Agency and Ashraf Khan of Peshawar were arrested.
The contraband was being smuggled to Punjab from tribal area, claimed the official, adding that police registered cases against the arrested men under section 9 of CNSA (Control of Narcotics Substance Act).—Correspondent
