SHO, several subordinates booked for attempted murder of social worker

SUKKUR: Sukkur DIG on Saturday suspended an SHO and ordered registration of an FIR against the official on charges of attempting to gun down a social worker in a staged encounter on Jan 4 in Khairpur district.
Sources in police told Dawn that the DIG Captain (retired) Faisal Abdullah Chachar had declared the encounter as staged in which Khairpur police attempted to killthe social worker, Sikandar Mirani, who miraculously survived gunshot wounds.
They said the DIG had placed SHO Mushtaq Jatoi under suspension and an FIR was registered against him. The FIR also carried names of ASI Amir Khaskheli, constables Sikandar Solangi, Miral Kandhro, and two unknown individuals, said the sources.
The case was registered on thecomplaint lodged by Sikandar Mirani, who stated in the FIR: `On January 4th, when I was going from Sukkur to Khairpur, B-Section police [held me and] took me to the police station where SHO Mushtaq Jatoi shot at me as other police officials held me by the arms`. He said that police also robbed him of Rs295,000, a CD-10 motorcycle, and a mobile phone.
