Isolation hospital, infectious treatment centre to be built in 35 days

ISLAMABAD: Construction of an `Isolation Hospital and Infectious Treatment Centre` would be completed in 35 days and made functional by May 5, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the centre was performed by Prime Minister Imran Khan onMarch 26.

`FWO [Frontier Works Organisation] is constructing Isolation Hospital and Infectious Treatment Centre in Islamabad in collabor ation with the National Disaster Management Authority and National Institute of Health on turnkey basis,` the ISPR said.

The 250-bed prefabricated state-of-the-art hospital would be used to treat not only the coronavirus patients under best availa-ble equipment and medication but would also be available for treatment of other infectious diseases, it said.

`Construction work on the project is in full swing.

The construction teams of FWO are working round the clock, ensuring proper anti-corona precautions for the complete workforce, in a bid to hand over this hospital for its operationalisation by May 5, 2020,` the ISPR added.
