Litigant woman, daughter shot dead in attack on car

LARKANA: A 50-year-old woman and her 19-year-old daughter were killed and her 16-year-old daughter was wounded when the car they were riding came under attack on Qambar bypass on Saturday.

The victims were returning to Larkana after attending the hearing of their case, pertaining to some matrimonial dispute, in the Qambar sessions court.

The deceased mother was identified as Sajida Bibi who died on the spot in the attack. Her daughters, Aqila, 19, and Anila, 16, were rushed to the Chandka Medical College Hospital, where Aqila succumbed to her wounds and Anila was fighting for life till the last reports came in.

Residents of Bohar village situated on the outskirts of Qambar town, some 50 kilometres from here, the family was temporarily staying in Larkana city, sources said.

Speaking to local reporters, Sajida Bibi`s son, Jamil Bohar, said that his family had a matrimonial dispute with his uncle. He alleged that his uncle, Ahmed Ali Bohar, along with his two associates, Rehmat Ali and Meeral Bohar, fired a volley of shots on the car carrying his mother and sisters when they were returning to Larkana after attending the hearing. A source privy to the litigation said that Sajida Bibi had filed a harassment application against her in-laws in the sessions court.

A hunt for the suspected killers was under way, the Larkana City police said, adding that the matter was being investigated from different angles. An FIR of the incident was yet to be registered.
