Case against SI for `pressurising` complainant in boy`s rape case

CHINIOT: A case has been registered against a sub-inspector (SI) on the orders of Muhammad Wala station house officer (SHO), allegedly for threatening the complainant in a case pertaining to rape of a minor boy.

SHO Qamar Zaman Japa ordered registration of a case against SI Riaz Shahid of the same police station, under section 155 C of the Police Act, 2002, on charge of threatening a complainant to implicate him in the case of rape of his own minor nephew.

As per police sources, Amjad Parvez, a resident of Mehran Baqir village, got registered an FIR against a suspect of the same vil-lage, for rape of his 10-year-old nephew.

According to the FIR lodged on July 12, 2022, the complainant`s minor nephew was allegedly raped by the accused when he went to get milk from a cattle pen.

The FIR said the suspect was caught red-handed while raping the minor a washroom of his outhouse, but manged to escape.

Muhammad Wala police had registered a case under section 377 of the Pakistan Penal Code against the suspect and arrested him.

According to Amjad, the investigation into the case was entrusted first to Assistant Sub Inspector Mazhar Sial, who declared the suspect guilty of the charge. Later the probe was transferred to another officer, who also found the suspectguilty, Amjad claimed.

However, the investigation officer was transferred and Sub Inspector Riaz Shahid was tasked with conducting the probe.

The complainant alleged that the SI threatened him to implicate him in the same case on charge of raping his own nephew, if he did not withdraw the case.

Acting on Amjad`s complaint, SHO Japa ordered registration of a case against SI Shahid and started investigations.

The complainant demanded that the SI should also be jailed for misusing his authority and removed from service.

The sources say that District Police Officer Waseem Riaz is himself supervising the investigation to ensure justice was done.
