ICB G-6/3 to commemorate its alumni from Bangladesh

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad College for Boys (ICB), G-6/3, is al set to commemorate one of its most distinguished alumni from Bangladesh,Ambassador M. Mijarul Quayes (1960-2017) in a ceremony to be held on Wednesday (today).

Before shifting to Bangladesh, Mr Quayes studied at ICB from 1965 to 1971.

According to an official of the education ministry, in Bangladesh, a statesman of remarkable vision and diplomatic acumen, M.

Mijarul Quayes dedicated over three decades to fostering international cooperation, human rights and cultural diplomacy. He died in 2017.

In recognition of his extraordinary legacy, the ICB intends to dedicate a college block in his honour. This initiative serves as a tribute to his achievements and a testament to the enduring relationship between Bangladesh and Pakistan.

A commemorative ceremony, which will be held on Wednesday, will be attended by Naima Quayes, the widow of Mr Quayes, and daughter of Pakistan`s first Bengali foreign service officer M.N.I. Chaudhary.

Representatives from the High Commission of Bangladesh to Pakistan, diplomats, educators and number of alumni will also grace the occasion. Staff Reporter
