Protesting owners threaten to shut private schools

TIMERGARA: The owners of private educational institutions held a rally here on Monday against the regulatory authority bill and threatened to close all private colleges and schools on May 19 and May 20.

The rally was organised by the local chapter of Private Education Network (PEN). The owners of private schools and colleges attended the rally, which was addressed by PEN district president Abdul Wadood, Sardar Ali, Farmanud Din, Akhtar Gul and others.

They said that provincial government planned to discourage private educational institutions. They said that private educational institutions would resist any move of the government to impose discretionary authority upon them.

`All the private educational institutions are on the same page against the government in this regard,` said Abdul Wadood. He added that private schools and colleges would remain closed on May 19 and 20 if government did not satisfy leaders of private education network.

Addressing a gathering at Jamia Mehmoodia Ouch here on Monday, he said that the west was fighting its war against the Muslims through social media and technology. He said that parents should inform their children about the misuse of Internet and social media.

The function was also addressed by Maulana Fazal Khalig, Qari Abdul Rehman, Qari Qamar Zaman and others.

Mr Mulk said that religious seminarles were imparting education to more than three million students free of cost.

He said that seminaries and ulema were being defamed in the country under a conspiracy.

VEHICLES: The centralised registration of non-custom paid vehicles was starred in Lower Dir on Monday.

Sources said that officials of excise and taxation department, army and police were tasked to register NCP vehicles.

They said that reassembled vehicles in the area would not be registered.

They said that two registration points were set up at Timergara Rest House and Chakdara Fort Ground for the purpose.
