LAHORE: Brilliantly ridden by jockey Bilal Ahmed, filly Proposal put up a scintillating display of speed to land the feature event during the day/night Lahore Summer Meeting at the Racecourse here on Sunday.
The five to two chance filly, flying the colours of Sohrab Khan stable blitzed down the home straight to beat chestnut colt Blazing Heart by two lengths to register a hattrick of victories.
Proposal`s victory in the 900-metre event was a marvellous feat and achieved in a fast time of 53 4/5 seconds which made it a fraction less than the record time of 53 3/5 seconds registered on the same grassy course by filly Winning Habits in 2012.
Chestnut colt Olympus finished third, two lengths behind while the even-money favourite bay colt Show Card ended fourth, another three lengths further away.
A big holiday crowd, which braved the hot weather, enjoyed a truly wonderful encounter between a filly and three colts, all coming under heavy backing from the punters.
The Lahore Race Club (LRC) stewards were forced to cancel the fifth race anticipating lack of competition because two owners had withdrawn their horses leaving just five runners in the field.
Meanwhile, the LRC has decided to hold the next day/ night Lahore Summer Meeting on Wednesday, while the next two meetings on June 21 and June 28 won`t take place because of the advent of the holy month of Ramazan.
