LAHORE: An election tribunal on Monday linked the fate of a `supplementary report` filed by the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) on inspection of National Assembly constituency (NA-122) to final decision on the main petition carrying allegations of rigging, moved by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan.
National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq had defeated the PTI chief in the constituency in 2013 general elections.
The tribunal member, Kazim Ali Malik, observed, `Any decision regarding the status of the supplementary report, at this time, can affect proceedings of the main case as well as its final decision.
During the course of hearing, Barrister Asjad Saeed, the counsel for Mr Sadiq, argued that the Nadra report was lawful and its chairman prepared it after consulting lawyers of both parties.
He said Nadra through the supplementary report rectified the errors in its earlier report.
On previous hearing, Advocate Anees Hashmi, counsel for Imran Khan, had termed the supplementary report illegal.
The tribunal adjournedfurther proceedings till June 17 with directions to Mr Khan`s counsel to come up with final arguments on the main case.
In its supplementaryreport Nadra stated that 5,898 (96.7 per cent) voters out of 6,123 could be declared or considered as valid voters, which were earlier declared invalid by it on the pretext that their Computerised National Identity Cards were never issued by the authority.
Nadra chairman had also told the tribunal that the proportion of valid votes cast in NA-122 was 99.9 per cent.
JOB QUOTA: The Lahore High Court (LHC) sought on Monday a reply from federal and Punjab governments on a petition on the non-implementation of employment quota for the disabled and non-allocation of funds for them in the annual budget.
Petitioner-lawyer Azhar Siddique stated unemployment had compelled the disabled to hold protests again and again in Lahore but governments did not pay attention to their problems.
He asked the judge to order the government to earmark sufficient funds for disabled people and implement three per cent employment quota for them.
Justice syed Mansoor Ali Shah issued notices to the governments and sought their reply by June 19.
