Photographing old city life

LAHORE: An exhibition of photographs titled ` Old City Life` featuring traditional city life of Lahore and Faisalabad opened at Zahoorul Akhlag Gallery of National College of Arts on Monday.

The exhibition is the outcome of a walk organised by NCA Archives on May 31 in both the cities simultaneously.

Some 33 or so participants from NCA, Punjab University, Home Economics College, Lahore College for Women University, SargodhaUniversity, Lahore Campus, FMH College of Medicine and Dentistry, Lahore, University of Veterinary & Animal Science and GC University, Faisalabad, participated in the walk and captured the traditional city life. The photographic data was collected at NCA Archives.

NCA Principal Prof Dr Murtza Jafri inaugurated the exhibition and distributed shields and certificates among the participants.

The visitors, faculty and students enjoyed the exhibition. They appreciated the efforts of Dr Jafri and the Archives Department tostart the photographic documentation to preserve the traditional city life, culture and heritage of Lahore and Faisalabad. This data will also be used as reference for the researchers, faculty and the students for their research projects and assignments.

It was a well-attended exhibition and visitors took great interest in traditional life, culture and heritage of the two cities.

The exhibition will continue till June 17.

Another exhibition of artworks titled `Energy of Holy Colours` by Amina Ansari will open at National College of Arts onTuesday ( today).

Amina Ansari uses `rainbow` to determine her scientific vision of primary colours form a single colour.

There`s a sun, a window and a glass of water, when the light travels from the sun to window then to the glass of water, what one sees happening? `East or West, Negatives to Positives, Hardship to Freedom, Visible or Invisible, Community and Interfaith` The artist will talk about the involvement as a community project in many manners.

The art show will continue till June 19·
