PTI, MMA yet to announce poll candidates in Shangla

SHANGLA: The Pakistan Tehreeki-Insaf and the Muttahida Majlis-iAmal are yet to announce their candidates in Shangla, which is fueling uncertainty among the ticket aspirants and political workers.
Sources said that differences are likely to surface over PTI ticket for NA-10, while the provincial leadership of MMA has forwarded the Shangla tickets awarding decision to its central body.
As PTI wants to compete with PML-N and ANP in Shangla, its political figures are waiting for award of ticket for NA-10. MMA has also not announced its candidates for he upcoming polls in Shangla for all the three constituencies.
PML-N, ANP and PPP have already launched their poll campaign in the district.
Waqar Ahmed Khan, who is one of the aspirants of PTI ticket for NA-10 Shangla 1, said he was still waiting for the party decision. The PTI chief islikely to announce the pending tickets for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after Eid holidays.
Engineer Abdul Tawab and Nawaz Mehmood, who had contested elections on PTI tickets in 2013, are also in the PTI tickets race for NA-10. Sources say that one of them is likely to contest independently, if he is not awarded the party ticket.
In MMA, rift surfaced when JUI-F candidates held a press conference and claimed that tickets would be awarded to them as per 2013 election rules. Beside, candidates of both Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F and Jamaat-iIslami have submitted their nomination papers.
Sher Alam and Mohammad Yar have claimed that they are candidates from the PK-23 Shangla I, and PK-24 Shangla II respectively.
On the other hand, the Jamaat-iIslami leaders, Syed Qasim Shah for NA-10 and Advocate Waqif Shah for PK-23 Shangla 1 and also a candidatefor PK-24 Shangla II have submitted nomination forms to contest polls and are also expecting to get MMA tickets.
A JI sources said they were waiting for the MMA decision and added that they were hopeful of at least getting the NA-10 ticket if JUI-F gets PK-23 and PK-24 tickets.
Awami Workers Party has also fielded its candidate Bakht Naseeb Khan from Puran for NA-10 seat.
POWER CUT: The Bisham tehsil has been hit by power breakdown as the grid transformer has not been repaired or replaced sofar, the areas inhabitants say.
They said that due to heavy load a technical fault occurred in the grid station transformer. The Pesco officials said that the transformer needed to be replaced.
Thelocalpeople of Bisham demanded of the Pesco authorities to replace the transformer as soon as possible to overcome the severe problems faced by the local people.-Correspondent
