CAA DG asks airports to improve service standard

RAWALPINDI: Taking notice of delay in flights and problems being faced by passengers, Director General Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Hassan Baig has urged the airports to improve service standard.

He was presiding over a meeting of the country`s airports managers along with Deputy DG (APS), Syed Aamir Mehboob here in Islamabad.

A press release said during the meeting the DG CAA emphasized the need for following the flight schedules. The DG stressed upon Airport Managers to take region`s leading airports like Singapore Changi Airport, Incheon Airport as benchmark for improving services.

While critically examining the prevaihng service standards at major airports across the country the DG CAA stressed upon the need of significantly improving the services at each airport by following the international guidelines of Airports Council.

Hassan Baig further said that commercial exploitation of Airport should be ensured by convincing the internationally reputed brands to open their commercial services at our airports.

DG CAA also stressed that the airport`s landshould be fully utilized to generate economic and aviation activities like MROs, cargo villages, etc.

He stressed upon the need for further coordination with Airport Security Force and other security agencies for security of the airports.

`Security and safety standards must be ensured as per International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) guidelines as we are vulnerable to security threats`, he added.

He also asked to further open `May-I-Help-You` counters at major airports to offer outbound facilitation to passengers.

He said that passengers were valued customers and their dignity should be kept above all considerations.

`They should be made aware on how to move in congested traffic leading to departure areas to avoid any inconvenience,` he added.

He also directed to minimize the process time from airport entrance till boarding of the passengers by coordinating with ASF, Immigration, ANF and Customs authorities and advised the Airport Management to improve signage at all major airports to help passengers find their desired place without any confusion.Staff Reporter
