GHALANAl: A delegation of the Tribal Protection Movement visited Mohmand tribal district on Monday to mobilise people against the former Fata`s merger with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Speaking at a press conference at Mohmand Press Club, the delegation members categorically rejected the merger and said a separate province was a legal and constitutional right of the tribal people.
The movement`s president Abu Sufyan Mehsud, Malik Naib Khan Afridi, Malik Dawood Koki Khel, Malik Khan Dad, Malik Ziarat Gul Mohmand, Malik Saleem Sardar Mohmand, Malik Zahid Khan Safi and Malik Mir Afzal Mohmand were present on the occasion.
They said the committee headed by Sartaj Aziz had recommended the merger `without seeking people`s input`.
They said that the successive governments had usurped the rights of the tribal people.
They said people with vested interests had an eye on the mineral wealth of the tribal region.
They said that instead of amending the FCR, the region was merged with the province without the consent of the millions of tribal people.
Abu Sufyan Mehsud said that a separate province was a legal and constitutional right of the tribal people and that the movement would continue to press for the demand.
