BANGKOK: Pakistan sprinter Shajar Abbas missed out on the final of the men`s 200m at the Asian Athletics Championship by just five milliseconds on Saturday.

Shajar had clocked 21.04 seconds and finished third in the first semi-final race but with the top two in eachofthe threeracesand the next two with the fastest times advancing, he missed out on the medal race after Saudi Arabian Mohammad Fahhad Alsubaei clocked 20.99 seconds in the second semi-final.

Alsubaei`s compatriot Abdulaziz Abdui Atafi finished third in the third semifinal with a time of 20.85.

Japan`s Towa Uzawa posted the best time across the semi-finals when he clocked 20.56 to win the third race.

Shajar had earlier posted 21.06 in the heats, finishing second in the fifth heat and seventh among 36 runners to reach the semi-finals.-Agencies
