THE Delhi Muslims will today [Aug 15] observe the `Dire ct Action Day`... and will reaffirm their resolve to sacrifice everything in the struggle for the achievement of Pakistan.

The Delhi [Provincial Muslim] League has called upon the people to observe `hartal`. Flag hoisting ceremony will be held in various wards of the city. ...The Delhi Provincial Muslim Students` Federation has called upon the students to go on strike. Qazi Muhammad Isa will preside at the students` meeting... . The workers of the Provincial League went round the city on Thursday [Aug 15] and exhorted the Muslims to respond to the call of their national organisation and suspend all business on August 16.

The Muslim localities sprang to life ... as young Muslim boys paraded the lanes, shouting to the refrain of `hartal`. `We will secure Pakistan or perish. Down with the British Imperialism.`... A 64-year-old shopkeeper, silvery haired and frail in body was telling the young men who had clustered around him, `I was looking forward to this day.
