RAWALPINDI: The Civil Defence Department on Tuesday issued notices to seven petrol filling stations on Sadiqabad and Kuri roads for not installing fire safety equipment.

The team led by Sanjeeda Khanum visited different areas of the garrison city to check fire safety measures in petrol filling stations, shopping malls and multi-storey buildings. The owners of the filling stations were asked to install the fire safety measures within a week otherwise their outlets would be sealed.

Sanjeeda Khanum said the campaign was aimed at ensuring safety of the people as well as the building owners.

She said the teams would check all the multi-storey buildings in the city and cantonment areas and even in the thickly populated bazaars adjacent to Raja Bazaar during the ongoing drive.

She said the teams would impose fine on those building owners who have installed faulty equipment in their building.
