Injured official, husband booked for ex-driver`s murder

LAHORE: The North Cantonment police on Tuesday registered a cross-version case against the officer of education department who, along with her former driver, was found critically injured under mysterious circumstances at PAF Colony a few days back.
Police had recovered Deputy District Education Officer (DDEO) Kulsoom Durrani and her driver Fahim from her house and shifted them to the Services Hospital. The driver succumbed to his injuries while Ms Durani was stated to be in critical condition on Tuesday.
Earlier, police had bool(ed Fahim on the complaint of MsDurrani`s husband Nasir Durani.
The second case was registered against Ms Durrani and her husband on the complaint of Fahim`s brother Asim.
Investigating Officer SubInspector Siddique said that it could only be established so far that Ms Kulsoom and Fahim had a monetary dispute.
`It is premature to ascertain either they attacked each other or someone else attacked them` On Friday, Fahim`s family put his body on the Canal Road near Harbanspura when they were stopped by area police from marching towards the CM House on The Mall.
The family members alleged that Cantonment DivisionSuperintendent of Police (SP) Imtiaz Sarwar was not registering case against Ms Durani.
The driver`s brother Asim alleged that his brother was first intoxicated and then stabbed by the Ms Durrani and her husband.
`The police reached the spot but took my brother to the police station for interrogation instead of shifting him to hospital for treatment`.
He alleged that his brother was fatally injured by Ms Durrani and her husband. `He could have survived had he been provided with medical aid on time,` said Asim.
Police had found Ms Durrani and her driver stabbed and injured under mysterious circumstances in Ms Durrani`s house at PAF Societyon Friday. Both were shifted to the Services Hospital where Fahim was declared dead and Ms Durrani was said to be in critical condition.
Investigating Officer SubInspector Siddique said Ms Durrani and her former driver Fahim was suspended from service over corruption charges some time ago but were reinstated after a departmental inquiry.
He said Ms Durrani and Fahim were appointed at different places but they still were partners in a business of salt trade.
He said Ms Durrani was in critical condition and unable to record her statement but on the complaint of Fahim`s brother police registered the murder case against her and her husband.
