I THOUGHT we had an electricity problem in the past , but now realise it has become a frequent affair with K-Electric which has shown us what is the real problem.
We had total shutdowns in the last week and several hours of total shutdowns over seven times during the previous month. In frustration I asked the people monitoring complaints to connect me to a senior officer, but they are always busy or sitting at home! To add insult to injury, bills for the last two months have been increased by a huge percentage without any stated permission or justification.
Our bills with a/cs running during the hot months have gone up by Rs 20,000 a month compared to the previous year. I am told that poor people`s bills have gone up from about Rs5,000 a month, and they are unable to pay.
