DERAGHAZIKHAN: The Taunsa city is home to the shrine of saint of Chishtia order Muhammad Sulaman Taunsivi who preached love, peace and humanity all his life.
The city, which has a good higher education rate, however, has been facing terrorist attacks for the last some years.
According to police record, two banks were robbed in the city by banned Tehreek-iTaliban Pakistan (TTP) activists for fund raising in 2011.
Incidences of firing at patrolling police vehicles also occurred in the city and suburbs. Besidesthat, sectarian attacks claimed the lives of two Ahmadis in as many incidents during attacks on their worship place in the city in 2015.
A couple of months ago, pamphlets in favour of Taliban and Daesh were found on Taunsa streets.
The latest among terror attacks is a suicide blast at the political camp office of MNA Amjad Farooq Khosa in the shrine city on Oct 15 in which seven people were killed.
Despite the attack, lawmakers from Taunsa said they were ready for resistance against violence.
Key political figures of the tehsil said they would maintain peace and brotherhood in the shrine city.
