Five SHOs among 32 cops penalised

FAISALABAD: As many as 32 policemen, including five station house officers (SHOs), have been penalised for receiving bribe and committing other irregularities.

City Police Officer (CPO) Afzaal Kausar handed down punishments to his subordinates in various ranks after listening to their appeals at the Orderly Room here on Saturday.

Balochni police station, ex-SHO Inspector Mushtaq Ahmad was demoted to the rank of sub-inspector (SI) after being found guilty of receiving Rs20,000 bribe and a 5-kva power generator from a complainant in a case.

Former head of Factory Area CIA police SI Ahmad Muneel Shah was demoted to assistant sub-inspector (ASI) rank for receiving bribe from Asim, a murder suspect under detention.

The then SSP (operations), Irfanullah Khan, conducted an inquiry and found Mr Shah guilty.

Asim was arrested by Shah on April 20 last in connection with the murder case of SI Rana Atif.D-Type Colony SHO SI Muhammad Shoaib, SI Sardar Muhammad, SI Muhammad Ashraf and ASI Waris Ali were demoted for showing poor performance.

Four constables Tariq Mahmood, Waqar Ali, Muhammad Qayyum and Zafar lqbal were dismissed from service on charges of remaining absent from the duty.

Punishment of reduction in pay was awarded to seven policemen, Inspector Aftab Ahmad Siddiqui, Jaranwala Sadar SHO SI Asim Rasheed, head constables Khalid MahmoodandMuhammad Arif, SIs Zafar Zaman and Irum Raza and T/ASI Seemab Akbar. Similarly, two-year service of ASIs Zulfiqar Ali, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Ashraf, Aftab Ahmad, Muhammad Sharif, Qasim Ali, Shoukat Ali, SIs Nazir Ahmad, Abdul Hameed, Tajamal Hussain, Muhammad Amin and Muhammad Qasim were forfeited, while one-year service of ASI Ameer was forfeited.

Censure punishment was handed down to Mamunkanjan SHO Inspector Muhammad Afzal and Balochni SHO SI Asim Rasheed.
