HYDERABAD: A group of Sindh University students have announced formation of `Sindh University Left Alliance (SULA)` and launch of a protest campaign from October 26 for students`rights.

Speaking at a press conference at local press club on Saturday, Zubair Azad, Wajihuddin, Faisal Mastoi and others said the alliance comprised Progressive Students Federation, Sindh Shagird Mahaz, National Students Federation and Revolutionary Students Front.

They announced that they along with their supporters would take out a rally from the university`s arts f aculty and march up to the central library to raise their voice for students` rights.

They said the SU had been facing mismanagement for long. They said that its peace had been destroyed and cases of harassment, blackmailing andextremism had become a norm. They said that faulty transport system, unavailability of facilities for libraries and laboratories, substandard food and poor quality of drinking water were some of the problems confronting SU students.

They said that the varsity administration and Sindh government were responsible for it.

They said that this alliance felt that SU`s issues needed to be raised with a progressive approach. This necessitated formation of an alliance of left wing organisations and that`s how this alliance was founded, they added.

The leaders urged Sindh government and Highier Education Commission to waive fees for this year considering floods and rainfall in the province. They said that admission forms for new academic sessions should be free of charge, adding that the time period for semester should be enhanced. They said that student unions restoration bill should be given effect and elections held.
