FIA arrests suspect in ATM fraud scheme

TOBA T EK SINGH: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested Atif Shahzad on Tuesday for his involvement in a multi-million rupee bank fraud scheme.

Shahzad was caught redhanded while withdrawing cash from an automated teller machine (ATM). His gang, which includes bank officials, National Database and Registration Authority personnel and a courier company employee, was creating fake ATM and debit cards using stolen personal data.

The FIA recovered 64 fake debit cards, two packets of ATM cards and sensitive account information. The FIA said they were trying to arrest other gang members.

THEATRE SEALED: The Minerva Theatre, located near the old fruit and vegetable market, was sealed on Tuesday by the district administration after complaints about vulgar content in its performances.

The city assistant commissioner took action after confirming reports of inappropriate dance and dialogue in the dramas being staged.

RESCUED: The Thikriwala police in Faisalabad rescued a matriculation student, Ammar Ajmal, who had been kidnapped for a ransom of Rs1 million.

He was kidnapped on Oct 13, the police said, adding that they tracked him to a location in Syedwala, Nankana Sahib, where they conducted a raid.

His maternal uncle, Sajid Ali, was arrested in connection with the crime.

RAPED, KILLED: A minor boy was kidnapped, raped, tortured and killed by his three cousins in Chak 228-RB, Boogani, in Faisalabad Saddar police area.

According to the first information report filed by the boy`s father, his son was playing outside when he disappeared. A search revealed that his cousins had taken him to a sugarcane field, where they raped and tortured him.

He was rushed to the DHQ Hospital where he was received dead.

Police have arrested all three suspects.
