Hamlet`s soliloquies re-enacted

KARACHI: A theatrical performance, Hamlet Ki Khudkalami, written and directed by journalistPeerzada Salman, was presented on the 19th day of the World Culture Festival at the Arts Council of Pakistan here on Monday.

Peerzada Salman and Zohair Zubair delivered outstandingperformances in the production which is based on the seven soliloquies that the protagonist Hamlet in Shakespeare`s famous tragedy Hamlet uses in the drama to inform the audience about his innermost thoughts.

It juxtaposed the timeless relevance of the seven speeches to the 21st century world in general and Pakistan in particular with reference to some famous personalities and situations.

It had a storyteller, played by Peerzada Salman, sitting at a desk in the right corner of the stage who told his life`s journey in seven stages. Each stage was accompanied by Hamlet, played by Zohair Zubair, performing the corresponding soliloquy.

A large screen was placed between the twoperformers, displaying visuals of the personalities mentioned in the narration.
