LG members trained in financial management

SHANGLA: Members and secretaries of village and neighbourhood councils of Shangla district received training in financial management here on Wednesday.
The two-day training was organised by Sarhad Rural Support Programme on behalf of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local government department.
`Training of LG members and secretaries was aimed to help them in how to utilise the development and non-development funds.
The training would be fruitful for the councillors and secretaries as they took keen interest in the course, Babar Qaisar, a trainer, said.
He said the councillors were trained about the importance of LG system, their responsibilities and powers of the nazims and naib nazims in their respective village councils.
Abdul Salam, village nazim from Butyal-H in Bisham, said the training was crucial for them as they learnt their basic duty in the system apart from the financial management.
He said they were unaware about their powersand utilisation of development and non-development funds was major problem for them.
Irfanullah, another participant of the training, said it was an excellent opportunity for them to learn about proper utilisation of funds.
Amir Zada, village nazim from Maira, said the training would be beneficial for both the public and LG members.
The participants were also given training completion certificates.
RAIDS ON MEDICAL STORES: Assistant Commissioner, Puran, Hamid Iqbal Khan along officials and police conducted raids on pharmacies in Aloch Bazaar on Wednesday.
The AC later told reporters that the action was taken against the medical stores after public complaints that spurious, expired and substandard medicines were being sold in the medical stores.
He said the samples of different medicines had been sent for libratory test in Peshawar.
He directed the medical store owners to ensure availability of quality medicines of reliable companies at their outlets.
