PMSA warns of strike if demands not met

Bureau Report 2023-11-16
PESHAWAR: Provincial Management Service Association (PMSA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday announced to go on strike if their demands of repatriation of deputationists, changing of additional assistant commissioner (AAC) nomenclature to assistant commissioner and assurance of merit in transfers and postings were not met within seven days.In a statement, PMSA said it advocated the implementation of the constitution and rule of law in letter and spirit for ensuring better service delivery.

`In this regard the Association has now and then agitated issues about effective service delivery, yet there is a deliberate attempt on the part of federal employees to wreak havoc in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The current system of postings/transfers has virtually eliminated the performance of officers for obvious reasons of insecurity of ten-ure. Merit is utterly missing in the system which has affected the service delivery,` the statement said.

PMSA said that after exhausting all the avenues, the issues unfortunately remained unresolved.

The association demanded that for better service delivery and good governance, government should immediately repatriate deputationists, promptly issue a notification changing nomenclature from additional assistant commissioner (AAC) to assistant commissioner andunfreeze executive allowance.

Besides, it also demanded the government to issue Provincial Selection Board (PSB) minutes without delay and assurance of meritocracy in postings/ transfers.

It said that in event of failure to address the legitimate issues/concerns within seven days, the PMSA will go on strike in phased manner starting with all the revenue courts will stop hearing revenue cases across the province because it has no legal mandate to do so.
