GILGIT: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Baltistan division leaders and workers have accused the central leadership of ignoring them while announcing the party’s important slots for Gilgit-Baltistan region.
They were speaking at a workers’ convention held in Skardu on Monday. However, they vowed to remove the differences so that the party could be made strong enough to win the upcoming elections to the region’s legislative assembly.
PTI central leader Gulam Sarwar Khan, who is also chairman of the PTI GB chapter ordination committee, Raja Ameer Zaman, PTI GB convener Hashmatullah, Ahmed Hussain, Ameer Kazmi, Mohammad Sharif, Akbar Hussain Akbar and Izhar Hunzai were among those who spoke on the occasion.
A PTI office-barrier on condition of anonymity told Dawn that the purpose of the workers’ convention was to remove the differences among the workers of both the Gilgit and Baltistan divisions over the appointment of chief convener, deputy convener and the organising committee members by the central leadership.
He said that Baltistan division workers had reservations over the central leadership’s decision, adding that both the convener and deputy convener and 20 out of 23 members of the organising committee were from the Gilgit division.
He said that party chief Imran Khan had promised to give one top slot to Baltistan division, but to no avail.
Meanwhile, talking to Dawn Gulam Sarwar admitted that Baltistan division workers had reservations over some of the party decisions and said that the central leadership had decided to reverse some decisions to the satisfaction of the annoyed workers.
Mr Sarwar said the central leadership had decided to give the slot of PTI deputy convener to Baltistan division.
