KARAK: Adviser to the chief minister on prisons MPA Malik Qasim Khan Khattak has announced the approval of three drinking water supply schemes and a road for Sorati Kalay area of Karak district and adjacent localities.
The announcement was made during a public meeting here the other day.
The adviser said the water supply schemes would be executed at the cost of Rs10.2 million, while the road would cost around Rs5 million.
He said the road would connect Sorati Kalay with the district headquarters. Malik Qasim said provision of funds for Takht-i-Nusrati-Mianwali road was his priority.
He said Chief Minister Pervez Khattak would provide funds for the mega projects in Karak district and that the government would take solid steps to materialise the important mega projects of the district.
The adviser said he had initiated work on a drinking water supply scheme from Lawagher dam on gravity line and that the project would be completed at the cost of Rs380 million to ensure supply of drinking water to most areas of his constituency.
He said work on Kohe Maidan Road had been completed at the cost of Rs200 million and that the road would help the people of Karak to benefit from the coal mines and other minerals located in Kurd Sharif, Showanki and Koh-i-Maidan areas.
Malik Qasim said the district would get millions of rupees in the shape of tax revenue from coal mines.
TWO KILLED: A gunman killed a trucker and his helper in Speena Banda here the other day.
The police said driver Hafizullah and helper Zahid Khan, both residents of Miramshah area of North Waziristan Agency, were loading wood on the truck in Speena Banda area when gunshots were fired at them and that they died instantly.
They said the gunman, Abdur Rehman of Speena Banda, was at large.
The police said they had registered a case against the attacker before beginning a search for him.Correspondent
