Train bogie catches fire

TOBA TEK SINGH: The Lahore-to-Karachi Night Coach Express stopped at the Toba Tek Singh railway station for two hours late on Wednesday when one of the wheels of its boggy No 4 developed some defect and caught fire.

The train took two hours to depart. The train staff told reporters that it was a mild fire which was controlled timely. The boggy was detached from the train for further repair.

Passengers protested that the train was unnecessarily delayed just to separate the boggy from the train and they were forced to stay in the open in cold as waiting rooms ofthe railway station were locked.

SUSPENDED: Two Bank of Punjab staf fers in Gojra have been suspended from service for allegedly misappropriation of millions of rupees of the bank.

Sources said tellers Muhammad Babar and Muhammad Faisal issued fake receipts to account holders when they deposited their money in their bank account and a few days ago both tellers disappeared.

The Federal Investigation Authority has registered a case while an inquiry committee of the bank started a probe into theissue.-Correspondent
