LAHORE: Gunmen shot dead two young men in Garhi Shahu on Tuesday.
They were identified as Arslan Ghani (26) and Zahid Rasheed (24).
Initial police reports revealed that two unidentified gunmen intercepted Arslan and Zahid in the heavily populated locality, leaving them critically injured. They were rushed to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead.
The police said the bodies were shifted to the city morgue for postmortem examinations.
Encounter: Two suspected robbers were allegedly murdered in an alleged police encounter in the Shadbagh area on Tuesday.
The police claimed that the suspects, identified as Qasim and Riaz, had snatched a motorbike from a citizen.
An official said the police chased both the suspects, following a complaint of snatching the motorcycle. As they reached near the Gol Bagh of Shadbagh, some accomplices of the suspects opened fire on the police. After the crossfire, the police found both Qasim and Riaz shot dead.
The official claimed that the suspects had died in firing by their own accomplices. The bodies of the suspects have been shifted to the morgue for a postmortem.
