BUNER: Provincial Minister for Zakat and Auqaf Habibur Rehman Khan has said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is committed to implementing its reforms agenda in education sector.

He said restoration of peace to the province and end to corruption in departments topped government`s priority list.

`The introduction of accountability and access to information bills are the measures aimed at ensuring transparency in governance,` he added, while addressing the oath taking ceremony of newly elected cabinet members of Private Education Network at Pir Baba here on Sunday.

The network`s provincial president Saleem Khan, general secretary Attaur Rehman and district president Mohammad Haleem Bacha were also in attendance.

Mr Rehman claimed that the government would not follow what he said the agenda of foreign-funded NGOs.

He said that the curriculum in government and private schools would be based on positive changes.

The lawmaker from Jamaat-i-Islami said that the JI would quit the coalition government if the curriculum was found to be in confrontation with Islamic teachings.

He assured that as the private sector was contributing a lot in the field of education representatives from the sector would be involved in the decision making process to better education system.

The network`s provincial president Mr Salam and general secretary Mr Rehman observed that the universal curriculum and universal education policy would introduce western culture in schools.

They alleged that western countries were conspiring to introduce their own lifestyle in Pakistani society.

They claimed that the education policy of the previous ANP-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was part of the same western conspiracy.
