DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Four policemen and a civilian were killed when two attackers opened fire on a police van near a petrol pump on Daraban road on Thursday.

According to police, the van stopped at the Bahu fuel station when the gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on it.

ASI Rehmatullah, Constable Rashid and a petrol pump worker Fazal were among those killed. Two other policemen were taken to the district headquarters hospital where they died.

Some reports said the van was of the Dera Cantonment Police Station while others suggested it belonged to the Town Police Station.

Security forces cordoned off the area and started a search operation.
