By Syed Irfan Raza 2017-02-17
ISLAMABAD: While the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI)on Thursdayexpressed the hope that the judgement in the Panama Papers case would be issued in a week time, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was of the opinion that a commission might be constituted to investigate the matter.

Addressing a press conference outside the Supreme Court, PTI chairman Imran Khan said: `I think the decision on the case will be announced by next Thursday.

He alleged that the government was using delaying tactics as it had submitted to the court a new document claiming that Maryam Nawaz, daughter of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, remained trustee of the London properties for only four months.Mr Khan said the prime minister`s lawyer had told the court that it did not matter if his client had told a lie in parliament.

PTI spokesman Fawwad Chaudhry said the decision on Panama Papers case would come in 10 days, adding that the prime minister`s lawyer Salman Akram Raja had changed his previous stance and was now claiming that Maryam served as trustee of the Sharif properties for only four months.

PML-N leaders Addressing a joint press conference, PML-N leaders Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Daniyal Aziz claimed that the apex court had hinted at constituting the commission because the petition filed and evidence submitted by the PTI were `frivolous and have no credible substance`.

Mr Aziz said that had Imran Khan agreed to the option of commission sought by Prime Minister Sharif in his letter to the Supreme Court last year, the case would have been decided till now.
