THE massive current shortfall in tax receipts is a glaring example of our failure to comprehend the real issue. We seem tobe more interested in window dressing. It is time we critically evaluated performance of economic team.
I would urge our prime minister to engage genuine economists instead of pseudo-professionals after a performancebased audit of the present team of economists. He should urgently focus on correcting the flawed policies which are bound to fail, which is evident from our failure to meet revised revenue targets.
Let us start appointing competent persons without taking into account political affiliation, political consideration and the quota system.
