I S L A M A B A D : Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev has acknowledged the role of Dr Abid Qaiyum Suleri, Executive Director of the Sust ainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), for his contributions to COP29 held in Baku last year.

Dr Suleri is a member of the international advisory committee of COP29, the highest decision-making forum of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

A certificate was presented by Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan Ali Alizada at the embassy of Azerbaijan in recognition of Dr Suleri`s contributions to the global climate dialogue, according to a press release issued on Sunday.

The conference held in November brought together world leaders, policymakers, and climate experts to address pressing environmental challenges and advance international cooperation on climate action.

The certificate of appreciation, signed by President Ilham Aliyev, underscored Dr Suleri`s commitment to fostering collaborative solutions to climate change. It also highlighted the importance of international partnerships in achieving UNFCCC gaois.

In his remarks, Dr Suleri expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing climate resilience and sustainable development.
