MUSTAFA Kamal`s bandwagon is picking up more riders with the passage of time.
The elements disgruntled with the policy, attitude and tactics of Altaf Hussain are allying with the new dispensation that vows to bring peace and order to Karachi, the financial hub. of Pakistan.
Altaf Hussain himself is facing many challenges. His health is failing. Money laundering and Imran Farooq murder case trials are still alive, and Karachi is under an intense operation by Rangers. To worsen all this, a new party from within the MQM is taking roots with his old friends and protégé parting ways with him. So, the MQM boss is defensive and cannot counter-moves.
It is too early to comment about the success of this new political roadmap. But a few things are quite clear. Karachi is no longer the `City of Lights`, the city of peace and the city of communal harmony. It is beset with all sorts of problems that include, gun-running, `China cutting`, targeted killings, poor governance and weakening government writ.
The citizens of Karachi feel disillusioned with the present power-wielders. So, the new bandwagon is gaining momentum. I hope it will usher in better days for the people of Karachi.
